A pianist born in Brussels, Sabine Lawalrée trained at the IMEP in Namur and furthered her studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels in the class of Robert Leuridan.
She teaches music education at the Auderghem Academy, where she is also an accompanist and children’s choir director.
She particularly enjoys vocal accompaniment and works for piano 4 hands, 2 pianos 4 hands, and 8 hands, and performs with various ensembles, including the “Toccatine” ensemble, founded in 2014 and composed of seven pianists.
Since the death of her brother, composer Dominique Lawalrée, in 2019, she has devoted her time to promoting his minimalist music and that of other contemporary Belgian composers through concerts, lectures, and recordings. Recently, in June 2021, the “superspectives” festival in Lyon invited her to give a tribute concert to the composer.
